Barangay Datu's Para Kay Teddy Casiño!

Wala nang kinabukasan sa mga lumang pangalan! Teddy Casiño sa Senado 2013!

Oks, pampabuhay ulit ng blog kong di na natutukan. (More to follow, hopefully soon, waha.)

This song was actually written way back in 1996, but only got released as one of the tracks in our late 2007 album, ‘Whoa! Pilipinas!” It’ll never get aired, of course, so share-share ko na lang sa inyo, hahaha.

NOTE: It was partly inspired by Nora Aunor’s character in the 1982 film classic, “Himala” (directed by the late Ishmael Bernal) and also by the early ’90s Agoo “miracles,” among so many other things (kasama na ang mga kahibangan ng matagal ko nang namayapang lola at ang mga katropa niya sa Samahang Sto. Nino!)

Here’s the title cut from our 2007 album. The song didn’t qualify for the Department of Tourism’s “Wow! Philippines!” campaign because of a technicality: “Wow!” pala. Buong akala namin, “Whoa!” (Baragsak na ata kami nung kinausap namin yung taga DOT.)

Hindi na rin namin tuloy na-congratulate si Ms. Regine sa sama ng loob.

And I See 2010

One of the consequences of the “alternative” Pinoy Rock “explosion” (which quickly transformed into the “alternative” Pinoy Rock “exploitation”) of the mid-1990s was the unprecedented label “feeding” frenzy that witnessed the relentless recruitment of virtually unknown underground bands into the service of the music entertainment industry’s major record companies.

When Universal Records decided to take us in as their “alternative rock” act during that mad rush, the union (for all the label’s sincere profit-oriented intents and all of our humble archipelagic-domination purposes) was consummated in what could only be regarded as “a highly unstable symbiotic marriage brokered and blessed by the local entertainment industry’s corporate gods of financial windfall.”

California Dogs

ABS-CBN’s “Umagang Kay Ganda” aired a news clip today about an interesting fact regarding the current dog population in San Francisco, California. Apparently, dogs there now outnumber kids (around 140k : 100k) mainly because a lot of people seem to prefer having pets to children due to the far less expensive burden they impose on “family” budgets.

As the clip expectedly went on to show additional footage of San Francisco dogs at their pampered best, one specific dog shown running around a grassy park area really caught my attention. It was wearing (of all improbable things) a protective respiratory mask (!) which I assumed was there to prevent what could only have been a poor asthmatic mutt from contracting a deadly canine pulmonary disease from California’s biological warfare-grade air pollution.
